I guess you need to look at why you want to be a vegetarian/vegan.

If you just want something that "replaces meat" then why not eat meat? If it's about healthy eating then fake replacements are not the best choice.

Fasts are not the best way to lose weight long term. Usually a diet and/or lifestyle change is required.

The blender keeps the ever important fiber while the juicer removes it. Both are good things but if I were to choose one, it would be a blender.

Welcome Introductions / Saying hi

hi everyone,  i recently watched "fat, sick, and nearly dead" and am totally psyched about geting into smoothies and juices.  i have ordered a vitamix (turbo vs) & then started having huge doubts about getting a blender vs. a juicer.  should i just bite the bullet and get a juicer as well?  my husband wants to do a juice fast, as seen in the movie.. he has about 30 pounds he needs to lose.  i want to lose 10 pounds.  we both want the health benefits for life that we know we can get from juicing/blending.  right now i'm just running circles in my mind re: the whole juicing / smoothy issue.  would appreciate your thoughts and advice!  thanks!

I TOTALLY agree Ckoral!...I would like that for SMOOTHIES...and FOOD recipes...a program for your fridge that knew what was in there...and it would bring up recipes you could use with those ingredients...it is SUCH a pain when you don't have everything you need for recipes :-[

What?...SERIOUSLY?....now we can't eat TOFU or meat replacements?....well us vegetarian/vegan won't have ANYTHING to eat now  :'( It's tough enough as it is being out and about being vegetarian without cutting out tofu and veggie meat!

This is a whole new adventure I am taking. My husband is right a long with me, We have tried the Banana is for beginners and love it. He feels more awake and I am calmer at work. We are now trying the Berry Blast tomorrow. I have a question my thyroid is not working properly - due to Ct-scans and allergy meds. Is this going to help some or hinder me, I am walking about a mile a day with the dogs.   :-\

Raw Food Support / Questions about stomach issues
« Last post by Tara on May 06, 2012, 01:41:48 PM »
First, I will let you know that I have a sensitive stomach and have been on a journey of healing my GI track for awhile now. I seem to have weaknesses in my stomach and Liver/Gallbladder, specifically. I have a really simplistic diet already and am very aware when something causes a reaction in me. I started GS a couple weeks ago and immediately started having stomach upset, meaning stomach pain and maybe gas pains. :-[  I finally had to stop with the GS and my stomach seems less reactive.

So, my questions are, (1) When already sensitive or having issues, does one need to be careful about how they start to incorporate GS into their diet? (2) Are GS not for everybody? (3) Do you have any suggestions for me to make this easier on my system or can you tell me why I am having this type of response and how I can change it?

I am about to start a cleanse and really wanted to incorporate GS into it, so whatever you can trow my way will be much appreciated!

Thanks!
Tara

P.S. How do you add a profile picture, it wasn't allowing me to upload one?

Welcome Introductions / Hello!
« Last post by Tara on May 06, 2012, 01:27:12 PM »
Hi, I am new and have many questions  ???, but thought I would start by introducing myself. I have been committed to bettering my health through diet for several years now. I had become completely miserable and filled with symptoms and health problems that I finally plateaued and now have been on a journey to heal ever since. Here's the catch though, the journey seems to never end or come to a place of contentment. :-\  I have been working with an amazing practitioner on my diet for 4 years now and have changed and healed in many ways, but I still have stomach issues and am extremely sensitive to different foods. Actually, since I don't eat many of the foods I used to eat, when I digest something that doesn't work for me, my body responds immediately, making me extremely aware of my intolerances. I started doing GS a couple weeks ago and had to stop due to some stomach issues it seemed to be causing (?), but I really want to include them in my diet, so I thought I would join this group and seek out some answers, rather than abandon GS altogether. But, I will post my first questions in the appropriate place to start the discussion!

Thanks for having me!
Tara
