Blendtec is LOUD! You can't really fill the blender and use it as it can't handle the volume. The preprogram buttons are almost useless as they rarely did a good enough job when the cycle ended. With the light plastic used to make it it feels cheep.

Now that I have my Vitamix 5200 I will never own another Blendtec again! Most definitely quieter. I can now make sorbet with whole frozen fruit using the tamper (I had to cut everything small before freezing with the Blendtec). The "wet" container does a fine job of grinding wheat berries. Green smoothies are definitely smoother. Love that Speed Dial! And best of all, 7 years worry free no matter what! - plus there are plenty of testimony of Vitamix blenders still going strong after more than 20 years of blending strong!!

I really can't understand why anyone would want to buy a blendtec over a vitamix - the price is the same after shipping.

To help with my purchase of a blender, I have looked at this site.

Some years back, I read that Vita-Mix blender had a feature which
enabled one to make bread?  Can someone tell me if they have had
experience with making bread using Vita-Mix?

Yes, you can make bread in your Vitamix.

After grinding the wheat, you add the yeast, water and etcetera in the center of the flour and blend it some some. Then all you need to do is put the dough in a pan and bake it.

Thank you for your prompt reply.  Since first looking at Vita-Mixer advertising many
years ago, I note several changes have taken place with it.  I understand that a
separate container is required for grains.  What would be the cost of the blender
and two containers together with all the informative products associated with the Vita Mixer?

A Booster Juice Outlet has recently opened in my area.  I notice it uses the Vita-Mixer.

Indeed you can make bread in a Vitamix. The Whole Grains Cookbook that comes with the Super package has recipes and step by step instructions on how.

A separate container is NOT required for grains. The standard container does grind grains but if you are looking to grind a lot of grain then the separate container designed specifically for grains is recommended.

The Vitamix 5200 Super Package comes with the the two containers and bread making info.
