BLENDTEC PRO 800 REVIEW

“The Quietest Blender in the World.”

When it comes to performance blenders, with power comes noise. But it doesn’t have to be that way. The Blendtec Professional 800 is the most powerful blender made for the home, yet it is also the quietest. True story. Our review provides the details.

BLENDTEC 800 BLENDING PERFORMANCE

Blendtec blenders are known for their high-performance and commercial-level power. It is safe to say the Blendtec 800 can easily blend anything you put in it. Hot soups, crushed ice, frozen fruits, mixed drinks… anything you want to create. There is no blender as powerful for home use including any Vitamix.

Power

The Blendtec Pro 800 is the cream of the crop. With 15 amps and 1800 watts of power, the Pro 800 can reach a peak 3.8 horsepower. That makes this Blendtec blender the most powerful home use blender on the market today.

Oh, and did we mention how quiet it is?

Stealth Technology – Shhh

Sound Enclosure

Perhaps even more important and impressive than the shear power of the 800 is how quiet it can blend. At over 10 decibels quieter than any other Blendtec (that’s 1/2 as loud other Blendtec & Vitamix models), the Pro 800 includes Stealth Technology to drastically reduce sound produced when blending through it’s sound dampening design and air-tight sound enclosure.

That means you can have a normal conversation without straining to hear while your blender is running. Try that with a Vitamix or other Blendtec.

The closest thing to a negative found with the Blendtec Pro 800 is the space it requires. In order to fully benefit from the quiet, the sound enclosure must be closed. This means you need ample room to store the blender with sufficient space to open and close the enclosure.

Unfortunately you also don’t get the sound enclosure benefit when using the twister jar since you need to be hands on to gain the benefit of the jar. Not to worry though, the sound enclosure is easily removable for easy cleaning and efficient twister jar use.

Pro 800 Controls & Usability

The Blendtec 800 not only takes power and sound to a new level, it also provides the best user interface for complete control over you blending pleasure.

The top six blend cycles that made Blendtec famous are included on the flat panel control panel as well as an 11 speed capacitive touch control and separate pulse control.

Blendtec 800 Blend Cycles Review

Blend cycles are automatic timed cycles designed for consistent and specific types of blends. These one-touch cycles speed up, slow down and shut off automatically, so results are perfect every time. The Professional 800 features six pre-programmed cycles and settings providing a wide range of recipe creation and functions.

If you are someone who takes full advantage of automated blend cycles, and believe me if you are not one now you will become one after using any Blendtec for a period of time, then the Pro 800 is even more of a dream. It truly does become a “push a button and walk away” blender since the enclosure keeps the lid of the jar secure and the solid base design keeps the blender from moving around while blending.

Blend Cycle Details

Batters:
This cycle stays at relatively low speeds for shorter periods of time combining your batters or dips, allowing the flavors to blend together properly, without over-mixing.

Mixed Drinks:
This cycle is used for mixed drinks, iced coffees, and milkshakes. The length of time it blends creates a consistency that is ideal for these types of recipes.

Smoothie:
This cycle is designed specifically for various types of smoothies and thick drinks that frequently use dense or frozen ingredients. It slows down and speeds up automatically during the course of the cycle. This allows the blender to draw the ingredients into the blending vortex, creating the desired texture while reducing cavitation.

Frozen Treats:
This cycle is designed specifically for frozen treats, including ice cream, sorbets, and frozen yogurt. The cycle speeds up and slows down at the appropriate moments to ensure your blends stay frozen.

Whole Juice:
This cycle is designed to completely blend tough and dense ingredients, including carrots, celery, and seeds. Use the Whole Juice cycle if you are using any fruits and/or vegetables with stems, seeds, or skins. We consider this to be the best blend cycle for green smoothies.

Hot Soup:
This cycle is designed for hot recipes. The cycle’s length of time, combined with the speed of the motor, heats the ingredients to a hot temperature. This also can be very useful for hot chocolate, syrups, and fondue.

Pulse and Slider

In addition to the six blend cycle one touch icons, the panel includes more easy touch control.

The capacitive touch slider allows you to manually fine-tune the speed of your blender. Use this by simply sliding your finger to the right to increase the blender’s speed or the left to decrease speed.

The Pulse Button is used for chopping, mincing, whipping, or other tasks that do not require a long blend cycle. You can also Pulse to quickly stir a blend before serving. The Pulse setting runs at speed 7 and will only run while the Pulse icon remains pressed. When the icon is released, the motor shuts off.

Pro 800 Containers

The Pro 800 comes with the most widely used 90 oz WildSide+ Jar. This is Blendtec’s finest, most efficient blending jar which can handle big batches as well as moderate sized blends. Every blending jar made for Blendtec home blenders is compatible with the Pro 800 including the FourSide and Twister jar.

WARRANTY & DURABILITY

Blendtec 10-Year Warranty

With great power and design comes peace of mind. The Blendtec Pro 800 comes with the industry’s best warranty – 10 Years fully covered. This covers everything that comes in the box.

These blenders are meant to last. If anything were to happen during 10 years of regular use, you are covered – 100%. If you were to have any issues with your blender during the warranty period, the cost of shipping both ways are also included in the coverage.

Blendtec Pro 800 vs 795

The Blendtec 795, also advertised as the Pro 795 and Stealth 795, looks the same as and is very similar to the Pro 800. It can sometimes be found on Amazon and in big box stores like Costco and Walmart.

Like the Pro 800 the 795 does have the sound enclosure and same base. It also has the same controls. But it is not identical to the Pro 800. The difference is in the motor and warranty. The motor of the 795 is essentially the same as what is found in the Total Blender – a 1560 watt 3.0 peak horsepower motor. This compared to the Pro 800 1800 watt, 3.8 peak horsepower.

The price of the 795 compared to the Pro 800 is the same yet it comes with an 8-year warranty, 2 years less, and an inferior motor. For us, we can’t see any good reason to consider the Blendtec 795 over the Pro 800.

CONCLUSION

The Blendtec Pro 800 costs a little more than other Blendtec blenders. You have to consider what you get for the extra cost of a little more than $100. You do get more power but mainly you get the quietest blender in any kitchen – plus a longer warranty. For us the value of the quiet feature far outweighs the additional cost. Once we experienced this machine we have never gone back. For daily and regular blends the decreased sound level is a blessing worth more than the extra paid.

Due to its Stealth Technology design of the base and the sound enclosure, the Pro 800 is a larger blender that requires a bit more space than other models. If you can push a little further on your budget we highly recommend the Pro 800 over any other Blendtec.

Hey there. Great review, thanks. I have a question. Can the pro 800 controls be accessed and used while the the blender is running and the sound enclosure is down?

Hello Jess,

Yes, the controls for the Blendtec 800 are outside of the sound enclosure when it is closed. Let us know if we can be of further assistance.
