Title: Website/source for Micro-greens supplies?
Post by: veggietales on February 15, 2012, 08:11:12 AM
Hi :D

I would love opinions and even links if possible...to good organic seed suppliers for growing some micro-greens on baby blankets mostly.

For sprouting, I am trying to decide on whether to use Hemp bags or just use jars? I happen to have 24 canning jars (they are REGULAR size, not wide mouthed, however) that were given to me as a gift so that could be an inexpensive way to begin.......IF I could find draining LIDS for the regular mouth jars. Any help with this as well? LOL

I can only begin with a few things as I just last night ordered my Vitamix blender! Yay. But cash is a little on the *not so much* side b/c of that LOL

I want to have broccoli, alfalfa and arugula for micro-greens although I know I will certainly use some in the short sprout form as well :D

My *always have on hand* seeds are: hemp, chia, quinoa, pumpkin, sunflower and a few others that vary and would love to grow them into sprout stage (except I hear pumpkin seeds do not sprout well?) and then into micro stage, eating them in both stages.

There are quite a few suppliers and some great videos but trying to choose a company will be much better if I can get some opinions from you! :D

Thank you,
Veggietales

I get all my seeds from Seeds of Change
http://www.seedsofchange.com/

I know they have broccoli and arugula, don't know about alfalfa.

What suppliers are you considering?

I've been wanting to do more sprouting but just haven't done in because it seems overwhelming. The few times I've done it, it's always been in a jar.  How do you grow on baby blankets?

Seeds of change is a great source for organic seeds for the garden.

For your jars - search for "sprouting lids" there are plenty of places that sell them.

For seeds, here are a few to consider:
