The newly released Vitamix Propel Series – where do these blenders fit in, and how do they compare? Who are they best suited for?
The Propel Series, is Vitamix’s new line of home blenders with automatic programmed blend cycle. It currently includes two models, the 510 and the 750. First thing to note is they do not have the auto detect system that is found in the Ascent Series. What this means is they do not require the special containers like the Ascent Series does. Most importantly, any previous containers you may have will work with the Propel models. So if you are looking to upgrade from an older, full-size model, the containers you have will work.
You can think of the Propel blenders as an evolved Explorian, they are similar with a step up in features and design. The Experian is the entry level, with Propel being the mid, and the Ascent Series showcasing their top of the line.
VITAMIX 510
The Vitamix Propel 510 has the solid basics that defines Vitamix blenders, including the variable speed dial, a pulse switch, and tamper.
Added to the basics, the variable speed dial includes the three program blend settings: Smoothie, Hot Soup, and Frozen Dessert. This model comes with the 48-oz container, our favorite all-around container for size and performance. Do note that if you are expecting to make large batches you might want the 64-oz container, included with the 750 and available separately.
VITAMIX 750
The Vitamix Propel 750 as you might expect, also has the solid basics that defines Vitamix blenders, including the variable speed dial, a pulse switch, and tamper.
In addition to the basics, the Propel 750 includes the five program blend settings: Smoothie, Hot Soup, Frozen Dessert, Dips & Spread, and Self-Cleaning. This model comes with the 64-oz low-profile container, useful for making large blends.
VITAMIX PROPEL SERIES BLENDING PERFORMANCE
Vitamix is known to be one of the best performing blenders on the market and the Propel 510 and 750 do not disappoint. How do they compare to other models?
POWER
Nothing new to report here. The Vitamix Propel blenders have the same 12 amp, 2.2 breaking horsepower that their other current models have. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, there is no need for concern for power with any Vitamix as they have proven to be able to blend anything.
NOISE
Vitamix blenders high performance and are louder than your average blender, but not as loud as some. The Propel Series is essentiallhy the same as the Explorian when it comes to noise. These blenders do not have the additional sound-dampening technology of the Legacy G-Series or the Ascent Series.
PROPEL WARRANTY & DURABILITY
Vitamix blenders are built to last, they can last as much as 10x longer than an average blender. Even still, Vitamix continues to have one of the best warranty and support programs in the business. The Propel 510 comes with a 5-year warranty. The Propel 750 comes with a 7-year warranty. Both come with a 60-day no-risk trial when ordering direct through our links.
RECONDITIONED VITAMIX PROPEL SERIES
Reconditioned Vitamix are an excellent choice for those on a tighter budget or wanting bigger savings. Every blender is like new, must pass a rigorous test and comes with a new container. More info on » Reconditioned Vitamix Blenders.
Being a new product line, Certified Reconditioned Propel Series blenders are not yet available. It takes some time before Vitamix has enough stock to offer them Reconditioned. Check back later.

VITAMIX PROPEL COMPARED TO ASCENT
Two Vitamix 750, what is the difference between the Propel 750 and Pro 750?
While the Propel Series is the Vitamix standard line, the Ascent is their top of the line. You generally won’t find any difference in power or performance. Where the difference lies is in the advanced features – the bells and whistles. The Ascent blenders have everything possible that Vitamix can offer. Other than features and aesthetics, the Ascent Series blenders are a bit quieter and come with a 10-year warranty, versus the 3 or 5 of the Propel models.
VITAMIX PROPEL 750 COMPARED TO 750 PRO
Two Vitamix 750, what is the difference between the Propel 750 and Pro 750?
As far as goes, these two blenders are For all intent purposes these two blenders are the same. They essentially have the same power and performance, both have 5 blend cycles to choose from, the same 7-year warranty, the same container, the same regular price.
So what’s the difference? The Professional 750 has the sound-dampening technology that came with the G-Series models, while the Propel 750 does not. We recommend the Professional 750 at this time because it is quieter. Get one before the product is retired.
Considering upgrading your current Vitamix to a new Propel?
Propel models make an excellent choice for upgrading as they are compatible with ALL modern containers.
If you have an older Vitamix with containers, those containers will work with the new Propel blenders.
CONCLUSION
The Propel Series is a welcomed addition to the Vitamix family. These two blenders bridge the gap between the entry level Explorian and the full-featured Ascent. If you are wanting your blender to come with automatic blend programs, and you have to stay within a budget, then a Propel is the way to go.
The controls of the Propel Series have improved over the Legacy Series models as the variable speed control has gotten tighter allowing for improved control.

hi, what is a better buy the e520 sold at costco, which has the same pre sets as the propel or the propel?
is there a difference is quality one being a explorian and one being a propel? i noticed that the nob on the propel looks a little better.
is there a difference in hp between the two propels. vitamix has the 510 listed as a 2hp and the 750 as 2.2hp but on their website both explorians the e310 and the e520 both are listed as having 2hp
Hello israel,
It is mostly a matter of opinion as to which one is a “better buy”. Personally we prefer the Propel over the Explorian series. The e520 is the base Explorian with programs. Both are Vitamix so the quality of both is excellent; the Explorian series was the entry level low-cost series introduced several years ago while the Propel series is a newly designed new release, for example as you noticed the nob is a little better.
The difference in the stated hp has no practical difference in performance or power of these blenders (see more about hp here). All the models you mention are essentially equal in power and will perform the same without any discernible difference.

Why would vitamix release a newer version of the 750 pro without sound dampening? Doesn’t’ make sense. There must be a reason they are replacing the 750 pro with the 750 propel.
serge, I hear what you are saying. My take on it is that the “Professional” 750 is now an outlier with the release of the Ascent Series – other than the pre-program cycles there is nothing “professional” about it. The Ascent Series is the top of the line now, they created the Propel Series in order to have a series with the program cycles at a lower price point that was without all the loaded features of the Ascent Series. My guess is that the Pro 750 will be discontinued soon, if not already no longer in production.
