The Portable Vitamix You’ve Been Waiting For

The Vitamix S-Series may be smaller and more portable but these blenders are no wimps when it comes to power and reliability. As you’ve come to expect with any Vitamix blender, no corners are cut. Constructed with a 100% metal to metal drive system as in all models, the S-Series 790 watt blenders are built to perform. While small, they are solid, sturdy machines (heavier than the Ninja for example).

Lighter and more compact than other models, the 16 inch tall S30, S50 & Vitamix S55 can easily fit under your kitchen cabinet and is the best Vitamix made for travel.

Personal Blending Power

S-Series ContainerS-Series personal blending containerWhat makes this series different from all previous models is the newly designed containers. They come standard with a traditionally designed smaller 40 oz container with tamper with spill-proof lid as well as something new…

Most noticible is the completely new 20 ounce single serve travel container with a convenient flip-top lid. The one interchangeable blade base is used on either container. Both containers are shatter-proof BPA-Free plastic and are Vitamix’s first to be 100% dishwasher safe.

S-Series Blade baseIt also has a 4-prong laser-cut blade – but something is different, the blades are on an interchangeable base. The Vitamix S30, S55, and S30, thankfully, all come with the famous Variable Speed Dial in addition to a pulse function (pre-program cycles also available).

What’s the difference between the specific Models?

All S-series machines have the same power and container accessories. The main difference is that the Vitamix S30 does not have pre-programmed blend settings. The Vitamix S50 includes two pre-programs, Smoothie & Power Blend and the S55 includes five, Smoothies, Frozen Desserts, Dips & Spreads, and Power Blends – it is also available only in Brushed Stainless.

Vitamix Reconditioned Sale

Conclusion

The big advantage of the Vitamix S-Series models is the size. They are smaller and lighter than any other Vitamix blender and its total height with the container on top is 16 inches. For someone with limited space in their kitchen, or for those that travel a lot and take their blender with them, this compact model can be ideal.

For those users that, for the most part, blend up single serving smoothies then the 20-oz travel size container can be a real convenience. With the Vitamix S55 or S30 personal blender, you can blend up your creation and take it on the go in the same container.

The big question is the price tag. Considering you can get the full size 5200 reconditioned for only $299, you have to wonder. If you already have a high-performance blender you are happy with is the cost really worth it for additional size convenience?

As of today – the Vitamix S-30 price has changed to $359 on Vitamix.com.

No surprise there.

I don’t have a Vitamix yet, and am seriously considering this one because I need it to be small. Thanks for the info!

If you have no need for large blends and you need a small sized Vitamix then the S-Series is an excellent choice.

Thanks for the information! I too love the idea of a smaller Vitamix but can it really perform the same as the Standard 5200? It sure the heck should for the price.

Cindy, you’re welcome. The S-30 is an excellent blender and preforms nearly the same as the 5200 but only for smaller volume, a maximum of 40oz.

I agree, the cost seems a little high but it is a genuine Vitamix built to perform and last. I’m pretty sure the price will drop, or a new package for a lower price will be released, in the near future.

Can you do frozen items with it? Making ‘nice cream’?

It is limited in what frozen items it can handle well.

For example it can tackle ice and bananas quite well and can even do some other fruits such as blueberries. But it does struggle with the more solid fruits such as strawberries when frozen solid. If the items are small, partially thawed, or “soft” when frozen (like bananas) the Personal Series can handle it okay.

Very cool – but $400?!?! And you only get a 5-year warranty? Not a bad idea but it will flop.

Wow I love the idea of a smaller one but the price is way too much, considering you could get a full size for almost the same price. I would have loves to get this but the price is way to steep. Should be about 199 that would be more reasonable and still not cheap.

I agree and predict that the price will drop and/or there will soon be a different s series package released with less included for a smaller price tag.

This is exciting. I love my Vitamix and make lots and lots of smoothies. I blend one up every morning to take to work. The travel container is perfect for that and could make the S30 worth a closer look.

WOW this is amazing news! I lug my Vitamix pretty much everywhere I go. I can’t wait to get one of these cuties – it’s going to make traveling a whole lot easier.
